Every Dress Has a Story!
Donate your dresses now through Nov. 9
Starting now through November 9, Girl Scouts of Michigan Shore to Shore and Goodwill Industries are teaming up for Every Dress Has a Story!, a first-ever “fashion-forward” dress drive initiative. It’s easy, fun and supports the vision and values of both non-profits while helping you clean out your closet. This clothing will be sold in Goodwill Stores, inspiring new memories for someone else.
Our Girl Scouts are leading the initiative and will receive a special badge for their participation – but we also need your support in making this program successful. Here’s how you can help:
1. Gather any special dresses from your closet that you’d like to donate to Goodwill on behalf of Every Dress Has a Story!
2. Bring your dresses to Goodwill anytime on or before November 9 for the Every Dress Has a Story! initiative. Or, you can bring your dresses to select Goodwill Stores on November 9 – our official dress drive day! Stores include:
Grand Rapids Area Muskegon Area Northern Michigan
Cascade Ave Norton Shores Traverse City – South Airport Store
Michigan Ave Grand Haven Alpena
Rockford Fremont Gaylord
Big Rapids Ludington Cadillac
**Please note: Participating Girl Scouts will also be collecting dresses from their personal networks for the campaign. So, if you know a troop leader and have a donation, let them know and a Girl Scout from that troop will collect your clothing and bring it to Goodwill on your behalf.
3. Finally, get social! Share the Every Dress Has a Story! initiative with all of your social networks! Just post your commitment to the campaign by sharing our website (http://www.gsmists.org/Get-Involved/Dress-Drive) and hashtag (#EveryDress) and showcase a photo of a dress you are donating and the story behind it (Examples: “Rocked the room at my 25th high school reunion in this tangerine number” or “Always felt like a ballerina in this”). Then, encourage your connections to join you in donating their gently used dresses at Goodwill Stores from now until November 9.
We hope you will consider participating in the Every Dress Has a Story! initiative. If you have any questions, please contact Allison Wisneski at AWisneski@gsmists.org.
