2014 Girl Scout Leadership Institute
Salt Lake City, Utah
October 16 - 18, 2014
The Girl Scout Leadership Institute (or GSLI) is a triennial conference designed for girls 14 years (by October 16, 2014) and older with three days of actionable leadership skills tied to the Girl Scout Leadership Experience. Girls tell us they want to make a difference in the world so the 2014 GSLI will focus on big issues which girls across the country and globe are passionate about. Girls will get the latest information on issues they choose from experts in the field, work together in solutions, and learn techniques for innovation, advocacy, and planning. Girls will return home ready to make a specific impact in their communities and councils as well as lead others to do the same! The GSLI experience will provide each girl with new friends, leadership skill development, and leadership opportunities.
The 2014 GSLI will take place in Salt Lake City, Utah, October 16 - 18, 2014. Girl Scouts of Michigan Shore to Shore (GSMISTS) would like to take eight young women to this conference! Girls that are 14 years (by the event date) and older and are currently registered Girl Scout members are eligible to apply. Complete the application form and submit to Andrea Hornby, Program Manager. Email: email@example.com; Fax: 231.947.4424; or Mail: Attn: Andrea Hornby, 1820 Oak Hollow Dr., Traverse City, MI 49684.
Application must be submitted on or before February 14, 2014. Applications must be COMPLETELY filled out and legible to be accepted. The GSLI experience will include activities, meetings, and preparation in the months leading up to the conference. Selected girls must be able to participate in the activities and meetings. Once the girls have been selected and the locations of where the girls live known, meeting times and places will be determined. The meeting locations will rotate depending on the locations of the girls.
If selected, girls must agree to register for the 2014-15 Girl Scout Membership year by September 2, 2014.
Girls will be responsible for no more than 50% of their total cost, including GSLI registration, air fare, hotel, and meals. Currently, the total cost per girl to participate in GSLI is estimated at $1,150 (girl's share of cost = $575). We do not anticipate this estimate will increase.
