Event Description

Girl Scout Juniors and Cadettes are invited to a day of digital discovery with the women of SWE, the Society of Women Engineers.

Volunteer instructors from the Grand Rapids and Michigan Tech University SWE chapters will introduce girls to coding with Arduino.

Working through Arduino, Girl Scouts will become familiar with the fundamentals of circuit creation and programming. First, girls will assemble a circuit that includes an Arduino board, a power supply module, a logic chip, and a DC motor to create a working fan. Then, each girl will be able to program her circuit, gaining insights into the fundamentals of computer science and serial communication!

Each participant will receive an Arduino Kit with all supplies and instructions on how to install the software on their home computer to continue learning.
