This program is for rising Juniors and up. Girl Scouts must be at least 9 years old per program requirements to attend this event. 

 

Event Description:

Climb aboard the WG Jackson on a 2.5 hour journey exploring the waters of Lake Michigan as you gain hands-on experience in the field of environmental conservation. Learn from local scientists as Girl Scouts discover what it takes to preserve and protect your local environment.

Girl Scouts, this program offers an opportunity to earn and receive your STEM Career Badge!

Event Supervision:

This is NOT a drop off event. Troops must come in proper girl to adult ratio. See Safety Activity Checkpoints for more information. Girl Scouts attending individually must be accompanied by a parent/guardian.

Event registration is not complete or guaranteed until Cookie Dough or Individual Girl Funds are

applied. Cookie Dough or Individual Girl Funds are non-transferable to other girls or adults.

Only GSMISTS Cookie Dough or Individual Girl Funds are accepted for GSMISTS events.

Supplies:

Please bring a hat, sunglasses, and wear sunscreen. The whole duration of event will be on a boat with partial access to indoor facilities.
The vessel operates as a scientific lab, Wear Closed-toe shoes only.

Due to space on vessel, 1 adult will be assigned as group leader to hold one bag on board per policy. GSMISTS Program Staff will contact adults for volunteers at the end of registration.

Registration, Cancellation, Refund, Transfer Info

Event registrations are non-refundable. In the event a girl/adult can no longer attend the program, spaces may be swapped to another attendee.

Events are first come first serve and are open until the registration deadline or the event fills. GSMISTS is unable to maintain waiting lists.

If this event is cancelled by GSMISTS a 100% refund will be issued.

Troops are encouraged to register for this event together through the Troop Leader's MYGS account.

Girl Scouts not registering as a troop or who are attending individually should register for this event through their parent/guardian's MYGS account.
