AGES 8+
Registration deadline: August 10th, 2025 or when sold out.
Event Description:
Set sail for adventure, Girl Scouts!
Traverse Area Community
Sailing (TACS) has partnered with GSMISTS to offer a two day learn to
sail workshop.
Whether it's your first time or you're
ready to get back on the water, this event is designed to make sailing
safe, empowering, and fun!
This is a drop-off event. Girl
Scout parents/caregivers are responsible for completing necessary
paperwork and waivers prior to this event.
Class capacity
is 12 Girl Scouts. Registration is first come, first serve, hosted
through TACS.
Program consists of 2 afternoons:
Monday, August 18th 1:00PM-4:00PM
and Tuesday August 19th, 1:00PM-4:00PM
NOTE: Registration must be done by each Girl Scout's parent/guardian. Troop Leaders may not complete registrations for a troop.
Supplies Needed:
Girl Scouts will be asked to demonstrate that they can swim with the
aid of their life jackets (this is really to demonstrate that they are
comfortable in the water while wearing life jackets).
While Traverse Area Community Sailing has a limited number of life
jackets for use, students are encouraged to provide their own for
better fit and regular use after the class. The program will sail in
the rain so come prepared with clothing appropriate to the
weather.
Closed toe shoes are required (tennis shoes,
boat shoes, crocs, anything that encloses and protect the student
feet). Towels, a water bottle, a change of dry clothes and snacks are
often appropriate.
Event Supervision:
This is a drop off event. Parent/guardian or troop leader please check-in your Girl Scout(s) before leaving.
Price: $20/girl
Badge/Patch:
