About Honor Troop 147:

The Mackinac State Historic Parks sponsors a scout service program each summer for Girl and Boy Scout troops. Troop 147 is now in its 51st year and is looking for new members. Members must be willing to put service first. While on the island, troop members are responsible for raising and lowering flags at 27 flag stations (this all happens at precisely the same time) and serve as guides at the historical buildings downtown and in the fort. There is also plenty of free time to explore the island and participate in troop activities. The troop lives in the scout barracks which are located behind Fort Mackinac. The barracks include a modern kitchen, infirmary, dining hall, and sleeping quarters. Review the Competencies for Mackinac Island Girl Scout Members of Troop 147 for more information

Eligibility:
Any registered Girl Scout from Girl Scouts of Michigan Shore to Shore who is in 7th-12th grade may apply.

This is a physically strenuous program. Girl Scout need to be in good physical condition and able to walk long distances on uneven terrain, including very steep hills. Girl Scouts are also required to stand for several hours, with breaks, without fidgeting. There are a limited number of positions available each year and selection is highly competitive. An interview is not guaranteed.
