Event Description
Innovate, create, and collaborate the future of aviation! Join the Women of the Aerospace Industry Association of Michigan (WAIAM) for a unique Girl Scout introduction to this year's Michigan Youth Future Flight Challenge.
During this 2-hour event Girl Scouts will hear from WAIAM representatives, learn about their careers in aviation, and work together in teams to think about the future of flight.
Everyone will be encouraged to form a team and continue their projects to enter this year's statewide challenge!
What is WAIAM?
Women of AIAM (WAIAM) is a volunteer network within the Aerospace Industry Association of Michigan (AIAM), offering support through program delivery, community engagement, and industry connection. They deliver programs that connect students to aerospace careers, and create meaningful ways for professionals to engage, contribute, and grow.
What is the Michigan Youth Future Flight Challenge?This annual program, developed by WAIAIM is a virtual, free, and state-wide aerospace competition for students in grades 4-8. In groups of their choosing (minimum of 2, maximum of 6 students), participants are tasked with developing a sustainable flight solution to solve a real-world problem.
The virtual MYFFC runs for four weeks. Beginning with a Kickoff event on October 17th, students work in their teams and with mentors for 4 weeks before coming back together for final presentations on November 14th. Learn more about MYFFC here.
Project work involves the subjects of engineering, marketing, design, and business planning, with mentorship from aerospace professional mentors who provide support, feedback, and insight throughout the process.
At the conclusion of our DreamLab workshop, Girl Scouts can register their teams to continue the MYFFC. Not yet sure who would be on your team? No worries! Girl Scouts can register their team any time before the official start of the challenge in October.
Event Supervision
This is NOT a drop off event. Troops must come in proper girl to adult ratio
Please do not register more adults than necessary.
Registrations exceeding the adult-to-Girl Scout ratio may be subject to cancellation based on venue capacity restrictions.
Individually Registered Girl Scouts must attend with a chaperoning parent/guardian.

If this event is cancelled by GSMISTS a 100% refund will be issued
Event registrations are non-refundable. In the event a girl/adult can no longer attend the program, spaces may be swapped to another attendee.
Events are first come first serve and are open until the registration deadline or the event fills. GSMISTS is unable to maintain waiting lists.
