Event Description
Join GSMISTS at the Grand Rapids Public Museum for the 8th annual
Roger That! Conference. This year's theme is "Live in
Space".
Girl Scouts and Adults will receive a
limited edition Roger That! patch. Girl Scout Brownies, Juniors, and
Cadettes can also work toward their Space Science badges with
scavenger hunt activities for aerospace and STEM stations throughout
the museum.
Cost includes museum admission, Space Science
badge scavenger hunt and limited-edition patch, as well as a ticket to
the 1:00PM Big Astronomy show in the Roger B. Chaffee
Planetarium.
*Earned badges not included in registration.
If you wish to receive your space science badge at the event please
choose the add-on option at check-out.
While the Roger That! event is open to the public, this GSMISTS
event is a tailored offering especially for Girl Scouts, happening in
conjunction with regular museum offerings.

Keynote Speaker for 2026:
Dr. Jeanette J. Epps is an
aerospace engineer, former CIA intelligence officer, and retired NASA
astronaut who spent over 230 days aboard the International Space
Station as a mission specialist for SpaceX Crew-8. Selected by NASA in
2009, she has trained extensively with both SpaceX and the Russian
space agency, Roscosmos, developing expertise in robotics, spacewalk
operations, and international mission coordination. Before joining
NASA, Dr. Epps served as a CIA branch chief supporting national
security operations, including a deployment to Iraq, and previously
worked as a technical specialist at Ford Motor Company, where she
co-authored a patent on smart materials. Dr. Epps holds a Ph.D. and
M.S. in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Maryland and a
B.S. in Physics from LeMoyne College. She is also an honorary member
of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority.
Due to the duration
and subject matter, we invite Girl Scouts Juniors+ to join the keynote
speaker session. Please be mindful of you group's maturity level when
registering for this optional session at check-out.
This is NOT a drop off event. Troops must come in proper girl to adult ratio
Please do not register more adults than necessary.
Registrations exceeding the adult-to-Girl Scout ratio may be subject to cancellation based on venue capacity restrictions.
Individually Registered Girl Scouts must attend with a chaperoning parent/guardian.

Food: No food is provided, though our group will have a dedicated lunch room and lunchtime - please bring sack lunches! The museum has a cafeteria as well.

If this event is cancelled by GSMISTS a 100% refund will be issued
Event registrations are non-refundable. In the event a girl/adult can no longer attend the program, spaces may be swapped to another attendee.
Events are first come first serve and are open until the registration deadline or the event fills. GSMISTS is unable to maintain waiting lists.
