Event Description
Get ready to innovate as you Join GSMISTS Program Staff for a 3-day twilight camp to explore how Biomedical Engineers use their understanding of the human body to address health problems. Girl Scouts will work in teams as Biomedical Engineers to develop a knee Brace. Learn about parts of the knee and how it functions, test materials to find solutions, and work together to build an effective knee brace throughout the duration of camp.
Twilight camp will run from 5:00PM-8:00PM from Tuesday to
Thursday
Tuesday: Begin Twilight Camp with an
introduction into the world of biomedical engineering. Start your
journey as a Biomedical Engineer as you work in teams to complete
tests to learn more about the human body.
Wednesday:
Develop an inspiration for design. From the drawing board to the final
product, your team will decide which materials to use based on both
functionality and stability to your knee brace design.
Thursday: Use the model of an injured knee your team created to test
the effectiveness of your knee brace. Use data collected to make
improvements and present what worked and didn't based on your
tests.
This is a drop-off program, additional information
will be collected closer to event date
This program
completes steps towards Girl Scouts to earn and receive their Think
Like an Engineer Badge.

This is a drop off event. Parent/guardian or troop leader please check-in your Girl Scout(s) before leaving.

If this event is cancelled by GSMISTS a 100% refund will be issued
Event registrations are non-refundable. In the event a girl/adult can no longer attend the program, spaces may be swapped to another attendee.
Events are first come first serve and are open until the registration deadline or the event fills. GSMISTS is unable to maintain waiting lists.
