Event Description
Step into the world of book arts and discover how ideas come to life on the page! In this hands-on 2.5-hour workshop, Cadettes, Seniors, and Ambassadors will explore the anatomy of a book, learn essential tools and techniques, and craft their very own pocket-sized notebook from start to finish.
Along the way girls will tap into their creativity, build maker skills, and gain a new appreciation for the art of storytelling.
During this workshop we'll:
*Explore how books are built-from covers to binding to page design
*Use real bookbinding tools to measure, fold, punch, and assemble materials
*Experiment with creative techniques that blend art, design, and function
*Learn how to upcycle and thrift materials to add to inexpensive or common supplies to make your own books with minimum up-front investment.
*Create a pocket-sized handmade book to take home
No prior experience needed. Bring your curiosity and creativity, we'll provide the rest!
Cadettes can complete all steps of the Book Artist badge; Seniors can complete steps of the Textile Artist badge. Badges not included in event cost and must be purchased separately.
