Event Description
Join us for a creative afternoon of art and culinary instruction in
an inspiring atmosphere at Northeast Michigan's Center for Fine Arts,
known as Art in the Loft.
In this fun-filled afternoon
students will:
* Explore the versatility and movement of
watercolor. All while incorporating fun skill building techniques and
learning about one of the main key elements of art, the color wheel.
And in the theme of our Great State, students will learn all about the
Great Lakes, our state flower, state animal, fruit and more, as these
will be the focus for our inspiration.
* Michigan is also famous
for unique regional dishes and agriculture staples, most notably
Detroit style pizza, savory Upper Peninsula pasties and Coney Island
Vienna hotdogs. As a top producer of cherries, Michigan is also known
for tart cherry items, along with Lake Superior whitefish, Superman
ice cream, Mackinac Island fudge, and Vernors ginger ale. While we
won't be indulging in ALL of these fun foods, students will learn
about kitchen safety, cleanliness and knife skills as they are guided
to craft and cook a couple of Michigan-based staples for
themselves.
* Young Artist Exhibit - on display from April 14th
through May 16th. This Exhibit is full of over 500 works of artwork
from creative and talented students in grades kindergarten through
12th grade from Northeast Michigan. This unique and vibrant display of
art is a must see and one that is close to our heart. During your
visit and while our Young Artists Exhibit is on display, students will
go on a mini gallery scavenger hunt for a fun surprise.
After creating in both our culinary classroom and our creative
classroom. Students will gather together to dine in and enjoy their
culinary creations.
