Spend the afternoon in the great outdoors and getting comfortable with camp. For dinner, troops will cook their first campfire meal with ingredients and equipment provided by GSMISTS- leave the planning to us! The evening will conclude with an all-camp campfire with Smores and Girl Scout songs. Troop will take home their dunk bags, SWAP, Kaper Chart, and a GSMISTS PALS Patch.

Older Girl Opportunity:

Calling all Cadettes, Seniors and Ambassadors, share your excitement and experience with younger Girl Scouts participating in their first campout by volunteering to lead activities on Saturday to complete steps towards your Teaching Leadership Award.

No need to register, contact girlexperience@gsmists.org   if you would like to volunteer.

Overnight accommodation is not available for Older Girl volunteers.

Older girls must attend with adult supervision

Girl Scouts must work with their troop leader or caregiver prior to camp to plan their activity and bring all necessary supplies. GSMISTS will provide camp details, including participating girl levels and estimated attendance, to help with planning.

Adults play a key role in supporting their Girl Scout throughout the process. This includes assisting with planning, supervising the facilitation and participation of the activity at camp, and conducting a post-camp reflection to review what was learned in order to complete the Leadership Award requirements.

The troop leader or designated adult is responsible for providing the pin and determining whether the Girl Scout has successfully completed all required steps to earn it.

To know more about Leadership Awards and their requirements, review the steps below:

Event Supervision:

This is NOT a drop off event. Troops must come in proper girl to adult ratio. Girl Scouts attending individually must be accompanied by a parent/guardian. See Safety Activity Checkpoints for more information.

Camp Accommodations:

  • Cabin accommodations are a maximum of 12-24 participants. Small troops may be paired with other troops in the same unit. We encourage Troop participation with applicable adult: girl ratio. This provides more opportunities for Girl Scouts to participate in their first camping experience.
