Event Description
Brownies bridging to Juniors may register for this program.
Join Ottawa County Park staff for a unique experience paddling down
the beautiful Grand River. With its diverse ecosystem and history,
Girl Scouts will be taken back in time as they paddle down the river
and experience a piece of life as a voyageur.
The canoe
(Gabby) can hold up to 12 participants per rotation, please be mindful
of your adult/girl ratio during registration.
During
rotations, one group will be canoeing with park staff while the other
will participate in French voyageur games and activities.
3rd grade brownies bridging to Juniors are eligible to register for
this program.
This program offers opportunities for Girl
Scouts to complete steps towards badges:
Juniors- Complete step
5 towards your Playing in the Past badge.
Seniors- complete
steps 1,3,4,and 5 towards your Paddling Badge
Ambassadors-
Complete steps 1 and 3 towards your Water Badge
These are available for purchase during registration. Badges will be
shipped after the event.
About the Grand River:
The
Grand River is a watershed that is protected, managed, and undergoes
significant wildlife restoration to protect its natural beauty. The
Grand River is the longest river in Michigan spanning 252 miles
Connecting from Lake Michigan in Grand Haven to Jackson.
Event Supervision
This is NOT a drop off event. Troops must come in proper girl to adult ratio
Please do not register more adults than necessary.
Registrations exceeding the adult-to-Girl Scout ratio may be subject to cancellation based on venue capacity restrictions.
Individually Registered Girl Scouts must attend with a chaperoning parent/guardian.

Please note that this event is subject to cancellation if the minimum registration requirement is not met.
If this event is cancelled by GSMISTS a 100% refund will be issued
Event registrations are non-refundable. In the event a girl/adult can no longer attend the program, spaces may be swapped to another attendee.
Events are first come first serve and are open until the registration deadline or the event fills. GSMISTS is unable to maintain waiting lists.
